UK school is teaching its students in VR and the Metaverse

A private school in the UK is using an immersive method to teach its students. Reddam House School in Berkshire, England has launched a pilot project that allows their students to pet wholly mammoths, explore different nations and truly experience what they are learning. The virtual world can morph to fit the lesson and this allows the students to learn about our solar system in a close-up manner that has never been experienced before.

These students have also been to observe the beating of a human heart in the metaverse. The limits of the intersection of the metaverse and education are truly endless. Through the metaverse, subjects are no longer taught in the traditional manner. Educators at Reddam House School have found utilizing the Metaverse to help them better teach concepts that are often taught through textbooks or diagrams as their students can ‘hold’ a beating human heart or planet in their virtual hands. Ioana Dragomir, a teacher commented “The retention has been amazing. Once they’ve seen something, they’ll remember it and there is a deeper understanding because they can manipulate an object, they can see it from all sides. They can see how it works, they can see the function, and they get a better understanding.” She went on to mention how biology and astronomy are fantastic subjects to utilize this form of immersive learning.

This form of hybrid learning will be beneficial for students. Students from Reddam House who have participated in virtual learning have high praise for the new and innovative teaching method.
